Competition Terms & Conditions
1 Introduction 1.1 This competition is being run by, or on behalf of, The News of the World and Syngenta Seeds Ltd.
2. Eligibility 2.1 This competition is open only to UK residents aged 18 years of age and over, excluding employees of the News of the World and Syngenta Seeds Ltd. (or any company within the same groups), their families, agencies or anyone professionally connected with the competition. By submitting an entry to this competition, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions. Any entries made by agents or third parties on behalf of an entrant will be invalid.
3. To Enter 3.1 The competition ends on 15th September 2007. Any entries received after the closing date will not be included in the competition. 3.2 Entry to the competition is free and no purchase of goods or services is necessary. 3.3 Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World do not accept any responsibility for lost, delayed, damaged or incomplete entries. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of delivery of the entry form. 3.4 Failure to comply with any of these terms and conditions will result in the disqualification of the entry and Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World reserve the right to disqualify any entry, at any time, at its absolute discretion in such circumstances.
4. To Win 4.1 The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and will be notified by telephone or post within 28 days of the closing date of the competition. 4.2 The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding such decision.
5. Prize 5.1 There is one main prize available of a car up to the value of £8,000. The prize is non-transferable and no cash alternative will be offered. Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of similar value should the prize granted become unavailable for reasons beyond its control. The car will be presented to the winner at a time and location convenient to both parties. Once the prize has been handed over, Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World are not responsible for any servicing, maintenance or fuel expenses, or for any other costs incurred in running the vehicle. 5.2 If a winner of the competition is unable to receive a prize for any reason, Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World reserves the right to award it to an alternative winner, in which case the original winner will not be eligible for any share of the prize whatsoever or any alternative prize.
6. Use of Entries 6.1 All entries, photographs, and other material submitted as part of a competition entry shall become the property and the copyright of Syngenta Seeds. By entering into this competition the entrant hereby assigns to Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World all copyright in such material. Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World reserves the right to publish such material in whole or in part or use them in any way it thinks fit without the permission of the entrant or payment for such use (but subject always to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1988).
7. Winner Publicity 7.1 Entrants accept that if they win a prize Syngenta Seeds and The News of the World will have the right to use their name, age, town of residence and likeness for the purposes of announcing the winners of the competition and for promotional purposes.
8. Rules 8.1 Please retain a copy of these rules for your reference.
9. Laws and Jurisdiction 9.1 These terms and conditions shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with English Law and shall be exclusively subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England. 9.2 If any of these terms and conditions should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable for any reason, then that provision shall be severed and deleted from these terms and the remaining terms and conditions shall survive and continue to be binding and enforceable.
